The 06A 1.8T engine is a tricky one to make studs for because of the very tight access to the nuts. ARP has finally launched a stud kit in addition to their bolt kit for this engine. The studs offer easier assembly and are only loaded with minimum torsion when they are tightened. This makes them even better in that they achieve the required clamping force more reliably.
The ARP head studs for 06A 1.8T engines are made from premium grade 8740 alloy steel which is rated far superior to many aircraft quality competitors. The studs are heat treated to 200,000 psi then thread rolled afterward, giving them twenty times better fatigue strength over studs threaded prior to treatment (a common practice with lesser quality studs). These high-quality head studs will ensure your headgasket stays firmly planted under even the most extreme boost conditions. Parts are 100% re-usable.
All Pro Series ARP2000 studs are centreless ground, heat treated prior to thread rolling and machining, and are nominally rated at 220,000 psi. These fasteners deliver a 40% increase in tensile strength over the OEM Torque to Yield (TTY) bolts.
