MQB EA888.3 ECU Tuning

Badger5 offers ECU calibration for vehicles fitted with the VAG MQB EA888.3 engine platform. Our mapping options are designed to suit different vehicle specifications, hardware combinations and intended uses.

All tuning requirements are assessed individually. Before confirming a suitable calibration, we need details of the vehicle, engine specification, existing modifications and intended use.

Available ECU Mapping Options

Mapping ECU Software Optional TCU
Stage 1 £525.00 £160.00
Stage 2 £600.00 £160.00
Stage 3 £750.00 £360.00

TCU mapping is an optional addition to the ECU software where applicable. Please confirm gearbox compatibility and requirements with us before booking.

Stage 1 ECU Mapping – £525.00

Stage 1 ECU calibration for the MQB EA888.3 platform, carried out using our in-house 4x4 rolling road dyno.

  • Oil pressure switch-point changes: Calibration changes intended to help preserve engine bearings under mapped torque conditions.
  • Engine cooling system calibration: Changes allowing the engine to run cooler under increased power, particularly useful for track use. As used in our Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship class-winning Leon Cupra 280.
  • Clutch-to-start disable: Available for manual transmission vehicles. Removes the requirement to depress the clutch to start the engine, helping to protect crank thrust bearings and reduce the chance of crank walk.

Stage 2 ECU Mapping – £600.00

Stage 2 ECU calibration for the MQB EA888.3 platform, with engine protection and calibration features including:

  • Oil pressure switch-point changes: Changes to help preserve engine bearings when operating with the increased torque of mapped software.
  • Engine mapped cooling system modifications: Calibration changes allowing the engine to run cooler when producing higher power, particularly useful for track users. This cooling calibration has been used in our Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship class-winning Leon Cupra 280.
  • Clutch-to-start disable: Available for manual transmission vehicles. Removes the requirement to depress the clutch to start the engine, helping to protect crank thrust bearings and reduce the chance of crank walk.

Stage 3 ECU Mapping – £750.00

Stage 3 ECU calibration for the MQB EA888.3 platform. This option is intended for vehicles with a suitable modified hardware specification. The vehicle's turbocharger, fuelling system and supporting modifications need to be assessed before confirming suitability.

  • Oil pressure switch-point changes: Calibration changes intended to help preserve engine bearings under mapped torque conditions.
  • Engine cooling system calibration: Changes to help the engine run cooler under increased power, particularly useful for track use.

Vehicle Information and Mapping Enquiries

Before recommending or confirming a mapping option, we need to understand your vehicle's current specification and intended use.

Please complete our mapping enquiry form, including as much of the following information as possible:

  • Vehicle make, model and registration
  • Engine code and ECU type, if known
  • Fuel type and octane rating
  • Turbocharger and fuel pump specification
  • Connecting rods and injector specification
  • Supporting modifications, including intake, intercooler, exhaust and clutch
  • Existing ECU software or previous mapping
  • Any mechanical work required, faults or warning lights
  • Intended vehicle use and desired results from the calibration

This information allows us to assess whether the vehicle is suitable for mapping and which calibration is appropriate for its specification and intended use.

COMPLETE MAPPING ENQUIRY FORM

If you are unsure of any technical details, provide what you know and leave the remaining information blank. We can discuss the specification with you.
